Tasting Notes
Sweet and spicy, dark chocolate, toasted nuts, cedar and smoke. Creamy coating mouthfeel, especially as a straight shot. With the addition of milk this espresso sweetens considerably, adding notes of chocolate milk, blueberry and vanilla. Our absolute favorite for making cappuccinos.
Background Info
When we first launched Espresso Havana - way back in 2006 - we were aiming to build an espresso that would pair nicely with cigars: something a bit darker with sweet & spicy tobacco-like flavors that amplified in milk based beverages.
The new 2020 iteration is that and more! Espresso Havana weaves notes of vanilla, blueberry, and milk chocolate from our Suke Quto Honey, with heavy bodied, smoke and spice from our Aged Sumatra Ulos Batak. You'll find it absolutely transform with the addition of steamed milk, from heavy, spicy and broody to creamy and incredibly sweet.
Coffee Review blind assessment:
Deeply sweet, floral- and cocoa-toned. Dark chocolate, narcissus, gently scorched cedar, plum, blood orange zest in aroma and small cup. Smooth, satiny mouthfeel. The gently drying finish leads with citrus zest and dark chocolate in the short and an unusual, intriguing smoke-toned cedar in the long, almost incense-like. Chocolate notes bloom in three parts milk, with narcissus and plum as supporting characters.
