About Paradise Coffee Roasters

Cultivated in Hawai‘i. Celebrated Worldwide.

At Paradise Coffee Roasters, exceptional coffee begins long before the roast — in the volcanic soils of Hawai‘i, the elevation of the Kona and Ka‘ū districts, the precision of the farmer, and the curiosity of the roaster.

From our roastery in Hilo, Hawai‘i, we craft coffees that express the terroir of the islands and the character of the world’s most distinguished origins. Our focus includes 100% Kona coffee, Hawaiian coffees from Kona and Ka‘ū, Panama Geisha, Jamaica Blue Mountain, and other rare varieties sourced through long-standing partnerships.

Every batch is roasted to order, ensuring that your coffee arrives fresh and expressive — a direct connection between origin and cup.

Our Founder

Miguel Meza — Roaster, Innovator, and Coffee Explorer

For more than two decades, Miguel Meza has helped shape the world of specialty coffee. His work spans judging, green buying, consulting, and pioneering research into varieties, fermentation, and precision roasting.

Miguel’s focus has consistently centered on Hawaiian coffee, particularly Kona and Ka‘ū, as well as collaborations with producers of Geisha coffee in Panama, Blue Mountain coffee in Jamaica, and emerging origins in Asia.

In 2008, he relocated to Hawai‘i to work directly with local farmers, contributing to the rise of Hawai‘i Island coffees on the international stage. Today, he leads roasting and R&D at our Hilo roastery, blending scientific rigor with sensory artistry.

“Our goal is to reveal what makes each coffee truly special — to let the origin speak.” — Miguel Meza

Our Philosophy

We approach roasting with the mindset of winemaking: respect the terroir, understand the chemistry, and guide the transformation with intention.

Our roast profiles emphasize clarity, sweetness, and aroma. Whether it’s a classic 100% Kona coffee, a floral Geisha, a deep and structured Jamaica Blue Mountain, or one of our experimental nano-lots, each roast is designed to showcase the coffee’s inherent beauty.

Our mission is simple:

To cultivate paradise in every cup.

Sourcing & Relationships

Paradise is built on direct, long-term relationships with innovative farmers across Hawai‘i and around the world.

We collaborate with producers in:

  • Kona & Ka‘ū, Hawai‘i Island — Typica, Mejorado, Bourbon, and rare varieties

  • Panama — world-class Geisha from celebrated estates

  • Jamaica — select lots of authentic Blue Mountain coffee

  • Costa Rica, Vietnam, Thailand, and emerging origins — experimental processing and rare cultivars

Together, we develop new varieties, test fermentation methods, and pursue sustainable growing practices. We source coffees for distinction—not volume.

Awards & Recognition

Our coffees have earned 93–97 point ratings from Coffee Review more than 100 times since 2002 — among the highest achievements for a Hawaiian roaster.

We’ve received global recognition for our Kona, Ka‘ū, and Geisha coffees, which frequently compete with the world’s top lots.

But more important than awards are the shared experiences our coffees create — from quiet morning rituals to professional cuppings around the world.
