Tasting Notes

Hand-picked, mixed heirloom, both Rainforest Alliance certified and Organic. This intensely flavorful highland forest Ethiopian coffee blooms with lush floral notes of jasmine and coriander. Flavors of cantaloupe, toffee and passionfruit are rounded by notes of citrus and honey. A top scoring coffee at the Good Food Awards 2016!

Background Info

The town of Shakisso sits within the Guji zone of Sidamo, in the south of Ethiopia, surrounded by mountains and covered by dense forest. The community has been producing organic coffees since 2001 and has been working closely with a European importer to improve the quality and quantity of their organic coffees.

At 640 hectares, plus its own nursery sites to grow coffee seedlings, the farm is a reprieve from the surrounding gold mining operations. There are currently twelve permanent qualified members of staff with more than ten years practical experience in coffee production, processing, and clearing. During harvest, the farm employs more than 300 coffee pickers for harvesting coffee.
