What is Vietnamese Coffee?

Hailing from the heart of Southeast Asia, Vietnamese coffee stands apart due to its unique brewing technique and flavor profile. Primarily made from locally sourced Robusta beans, this coffee is drip-brewed using a traditional 'Phin'. The slow drip process yields a potent brew, often paired with condensed milk, creating a delightful interplay of bold and creamy flavors. Beyond its taste, Vietnamese coffee represents the country's enduring spirit and its rich coffee-growing legacy.

Vietnamese Coffee Flavor Profiles

Vietnamese coffee promises a unique taste experience that stands apart from other coffee varieties. Its flavor profile is robust, bold, and strikes a perfect balance between strength and sweetness, providing a coffee experience that is hard to resist for enthusiasts.

Vietnamese Coffee Roasts

Vietnamese coffee beans are often roasted to a dark level, specifically to a French roast level, to diminish the natural acidity, especially prevalent in Robusta beans. This dark roast helps in enhancing the flavor, making the coffee less acidic and more appealing to a broader range of coffee lovers.

How to Brew Coffee From Vietnam?

To brew Vietnamese coffee, you'll need dark roasted Vietnamese coffee beans, sweetened condensed milk, water, and a Vietnamese coffee filter (phin). Start by boiling water, then add 2-3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk to a cup. Place 2-3 tablespoons of coffee grounds in the filter, tamp them down, and pour a small amount of hot water to wet the grounds. Wait for 30 seconds before filling the filter with hot water, then let it drip through for about 5-7 minutes. Stir the coffee and condensed milk together, and enjoy your brew.
