A vividly fruited natural Typica that trades Geisha's floral elegance for pure tropical intensity.

Some lots whisper. This one shouts.

Our Kona Typica Natural comes from the same Namvar Estate that produces our celebrated washed Geisha — but from a different, lower-elevation field, picked and processed to chase an entirely different kind of cup. Left to dry slowly inside the whole cherry, this Typica develops an explosive fruit character: ripe watermelon, ribbons of lime, tart kiwi, and juicy strawberry stacked through every sip.

This is Kona coffee at its most exuberant.

Origin & Elevation: A Lower Field at Namvar Estate, Keauhou

This lot is grown on a distinct block of Namvar Estate at roughly 850 feet in Keauhou — noticeably lower and warmer than the estate's Geisha plot. Where higher elevation slows ripening and builds delicacy, this warmer, lower field pushes the cherries toward faster sugar development and bigger, riper fruit character at harvest.

Farmed by the same team behind our previous Washed Geisha lot, this Typica reflects a different side of the estate's terroir — proof that Namvar's volcanic soil and craftsmanship can produce equally compelling coffee at either end of the elevation range.

Character & Style: A Tropical Fruit Bomb

Watermelon leads the cup, sweet and thirst-quenching, followed by a wave of tart lime acidity that keeps things lively rather than heavy. Kiwi adds a green, slightly tangy edge, while ripe strawberry rounds out the finish with jammy sweetness. The body is juicy and syrupy, coating the palate the way only a well-executed natural can.

Nothing here is subtle — and that's the point.

Natural Processing

After harvest, whole ripe cherries are laid out to dry slowly in the fruit, without removing the skin or pulp first. As the coffee dries over one to several weeks, sugars and fermentation compounds from the cherry migrate into the bean, building the intense fruit-forward flavor natural processing is known for.

Our light roast is calibrated to protect:

  • Bright tropical fruit character
  • Juicy, syrupy body
  • Vibrant, lime-driven acidity
  • Clean fermentation without funk
  • A long, fruit-forward finish

Paradise & Namvar Estate

Paradise Coffee Roasters has worked directly with Namvar Estate to showcase the full range of what this Kona property can produce — from the refined, transparent Geisha grown higher on the farm to bold, experimental natural lots like this one from its lower Keauhou field.

This Typica is a reminder that Kona's potential goes well beyond any single variety or process — and that some of the most exciting coffee here comes from producers willing to try something new on the same ground that built their reputation.

A Moment of Paradise

Brew as a pour-over to let the fruit notes shine individually, or try an immersion method for a rounder, syrupy cup. Best enjoyed once it cools slightly — the watermelon and strawberry sweetness open up as the temperature drops.
