A lush coffee with tropical effervescence. Vanilla-like floral notes mingle with lemon and lime in the bouquet. Flavors become richer and juicier in the cup, deepening into mango, blueberry, and passion fruit, then fading to jasmine and green tea in the finish.
Ethiopia Awassa is our celebration of the great washed coffees of Ethiopia.
Since the first washing stations were installed in Yirgacheffe around 80 years ago, the fragrant coffees of southern Ethiopia have become many a coffee lovers favorite.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of Arabica coffee and the origin with the most genetic diversity within its varieties. A staggering array of flavors and aromas can be found within the coffees of this one country: lemon zest, jasmine, blueberry, peach, green tea, occasionally spice and leather. Quite often though the coffees can be one dimensional; enticing with aroma, but then thin and lacking any depth in the cup. Other coffees from the region can be bright and rounded but far more subtle in their aromatic expression.
By cupping through many offerings from around the country and blending the best coffees together to create our Ethiopia Awassa, we can offer the greatest diversity in Ethiopian coffees, here in one cup. Always aromatically intense and complex... crisp and refreshing, with endless layers of flavor to explore.
