One of the farms he frequently visited was Zhou Zhu Yuan farm high in the mountains of Alishan, a region traditionally famous for Tea production. At the farm two varieties were growing. Typica, and another unknown variety that at the time we simply called 'Sumatra' on the assumption \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eI\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e may have been some type of hybrid variety introduced from Indonesia. A couple years ago farm owner Fang Cheng-lun sent samples of these trees for genetic testing and the origin was revealed. While closely related to both Typica and Bourbon it is not identical to either.
