An unusual, sweet, geisha-like experience! The amazing fragrance confirms this is no ordinary Typica-variety coffee. In fact, last summer while visiting the farm we learned that there's no Typica lineage in this coffee at all (despite the name). It's a hybrid of the super sweet Bourbon-variety coffees from Ethiopian lines, locally known as Typica Mejorado, or "Improved Typica".
The farms in this small growing region, Pichincha, are not far from Narino, Colombia. Many of the varieties grown here are unique to Ecuador and come from a small research center in Pichincha. Although they are a relatively small coffee producer, what they lack in size they make up for in quality.
