Tasting Notes

Great peaberry coffees are intensified versions of their flat-beaned counterparts. With our Kuta Peaberry that means a powerful yet balanced winey cup reminiscent of East African coffees, with notes of chocolate, fig, and molasses.

Background Info

Coffees from the Kuta Mill are collected from small farms on the Kuta ridge in the Waghi Valley in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Farms in this area grow a mix of Typica and Bourbon at altitudes of 1500-1600m.

We look forward to Papua New Guinea coffees arrival every winter though the quality is consistently inconsistent from this origin. Every year we seem to be able to find at least one outstanding coffee and this year is no exception. In fact, this peaberry lot from the Kuta Mill is probably the best coffee we have seen from Papua New Guinea in quite some time.
