Next Roast Wednesday November 18th. 4oz

Tasting Notes

One of the most unique coffee profiles we have come across. Aromas of Cacao nibs, Jackfruit, and Salted caramel. In the cup an extradinarily bright acidity paired with more cacao like flavors along with something reminiscent of cheese crackers.

Background Info

Those subscribed to our Rare Coffees Tour already had a taste of this very interesting Coffee last month. Costa Rica Finca El Roble H3 Honey 'La Carpa'

This coffee comes from the still very uncommon H3 variety. One of a new generation of F1 coffee hybrids released in the last decade. It is a hybrid of the common, and prodictive caturra variety and an ethiopian accession E531.

However it is the unusual processing method that really drives the flavor of this coffee. The cherries are pulped and then fermented in bags for 1 day. After which they are laid on a white plastic tarp called 'La Carpa' in the shade for 6 days. And then drying is completed on raised screens. The fermentation of the fruit during this process creates some distinctive characteristics.

While most of this coffee has already been roasted for our rare coffees tour subscribers, we will have 1 more roast available for other customers in a couple weeks. Stay tuned.
